Who can serve as a page?
Children under the age of 12 have the opportunity to serve as a legislator’s personal page. Those who are between the ages of 12-18 may participate in the Legislative Page Program.

What should a page wear?
Proper business attire is required for all pages.  This includes something nice that might be worn to school other than jeans and sweatshirts. Coats and ties for males and dresses or skirts for females are suggested, but not required.  Halter tops, midriff tops, low-cut tops, low-cut dresses, mini-skirts or tight fitting pants are not considered appropriate. Any student that arrives in inappropriate attire will be asked to watch the proceedings from the Gallery and will not be allowed on the House Floor. Comfortable shoes are necessary for those who will be serving in the Legislative Page Program as you will do a lot of walking.

How does a student sign up to serve as a page?
Contact your legislator’s office to express your interest and it ensure that another page is not already scheduled for that day. Parental consent must be given before anyone under the age of 18 can serve.

When can a student serve as a page?
During any regular or special session of the General Assembly. Regular sessions take place every year beginning in January. Special sessions are called at the discretion of the Governor.

How long is a legislative day?
The day can be short or it can be very long.  Pages are not required to stay until the day's proceedings end.

When should a page arrive?
Those participating in the Legislative Page Program should arrive one and a half hours before session convenes for an orientation and training session.  The student should report to the House Page Mother in the gallery of the House Chambers or to Jean Burgin in Room 309 of the Capitol Building.  The student will then be directed to the proper area to wait or meet their legislator. Students participating as a personal page should arrive 30 minutes prior to session convening and report to the House Page Mother.  Session usually begins at 4 p.m. on Monday, 2 p.m. on Tuesday-Thursday and 10 a.m. on Friday.
